I talked with Rabbit Valley after months (long story, I didn’t see I was using another account, which is the cause of my late reply to them…). Anyway, there is still many work to do by my side with the final refinition of the first chapter.
Hopefully they will answer me back soon so we can discuss about the process, payment, etc…
- So there is that, and I don’t think I told you more about my story. So, here it is.
Firstly, here’s the summary of the story:
The story takes place in a quiet town in the state of Oregon, Corvallis, “heart of the valley”.
Eugene, a 19-year-old undergraduate studies writing in college of liberal at ASU, Amphorys State University.
He had to leave his hometown at Portland because of religious issues with his father. He now lives with his half-brother Will, a 29-year-old history teacher working at the same university Eugene goes.
The two brothers lived painful past each other confronted to the same issue: homosexuality. They now have to face the present and forget about the past together.
As you could imagine, the red thread is about homosexuality, but also slice-of-life and romance. I would qualify as something unique because it’s rare that we read anthro comics mentioning religion nowadays (excepted Fur-piled and some).
It is a subject which I find intriguing and wanted to put in my project, not as a main thing, but let’s say some kind of settings to give the characters originality, happening in common places and interact with people of everyday life.
This is quite a dark story, when you read the synopsis you’re thinking “aww, I feel sorry for them”, but when you will actually read the whole thing it may be darker than you thought, actually.
The thing is that Eugene, the 20-year-old student wants to be more focused on his studies than participate in campagnes among the LGBT community, mostly because of his background, and he already struggles to forget about his dreadful past he endured with his Jewish family.
Eugene’s father got mad when he knew his son was hanging around with another boy. He couldn’t allow one of his sons being gay to not tarnish his judaism principles. That’s right at this moment that his old half-brother; gave him asylum. And they both try to get through all their issues.
With the homosexuality as a main thing, their stories will be combined to the red thread of my project, and the forthcoming characters.
Also, this comic will be the first chapter of the series I plan to do, rather a “prologue” of the story itself. There will be like… 4, perhaps 5 chapters to complete the whole story.
Pornography won’t be included but, as there will be romance, I might draw some erotic content in it. I don’t plan to turn something ambitious into an entertainment focused on sex as many comic creators do.
Finally,
Eugene and Will will (I know, haha) both surely move on from their past to focus on the future, stop being looked down and loving who they want.
That is my purpose, to prove that there’s always a “shortcut” after sorrowful events and that people’s mind can always change.
